There is a £50 administration fee for the completion all of paper work, log books, H&S etc. Travel is charged at £00.50 per mile in the UK. If accommodation is needed, this will be discussed with the client prior to shoot date, and will be billed separately. An initial 35% deposit will need to be paid to secure the booking, and final payment upon footage delivery and no later than 14 days from shoot date.

AP Flight Team will check all locations for safety restrictions and no-fly zones. But it is the client’s responsibility to inform and acquire any further permissions that may be needed for the photographing and filming of the location(s).

We will monitor weather conditions at the time of booking the job, and will continue to do so until the shoot date. Up to 48 hours before the shoot if the conditions are no longer deemed safe to fly, alternate shoot dates will be suggested, but only if the weather is not safe to fly.  Within 48 hours of the shoot the job must be fully committed to and we cannot be held responsible for the weather.

Booking Process:

If you’d like to enquire about booking, please do not hesitate to call the AP Flight Team or  send us an email. This would need to include the following information:

  1. Brief: Outlining what you would like to capture, and a short summary of what your overall project entails. Please be as descriptive as possible, as this will aid the Flight Team to better understand your needs, and give you flight options. If you already have a specific shot list in mind, please itemise this in your brief.
  2. Location: If you already have a specific location in mind, please provide a post code so that the AP Flight Team can carry out a full safety check on your chosen location, insuring that it is feasible to fly there.
  3. Date(s): If you have a specific date or window in which you would like to shoot, please do let us know. We will try our best to accommodate, but please bare in mind that various factors come into play. Apart from Flight Team availability, we must also closely monitor the weather conditions in order to insure safe flight conditions. Also some areas will require special permissions from the CAA which can take up to a month to acquire.

Once we have revised the information provided, we can get back to you with feedback and availability, as well as the best pricing plan for your project.

Sometimes it may be necessary to do a pre-flight visit to a location to ascertain if it will be possible to fly and if so what permissions will be needed. However, usually just a post code or location of where and what we are filming will be enough for us to do a pre-flight survey online to see if there are any flight restrictions which we need to be aware of. Upon receiving your brief we will be able to inform you if we will need a site recce.

Rules & Regulations/Client’s obligation:

AP Flight team members have undergone extensive training to obtain the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approval, in order to be able to safely and legally provide their service. Is it therefore imperative that they adhere to the rules and regulations of this entity. AP Flight Team is also fully insured.

Here are some of the key safety measures imposed by the CAA that you should know about:

  • For take-off and landing, Landowner’s permission must be acquired before shooting
  • Air Traffic Control will need to be informed if we are flying within certain distances of their air space
  • We cannot fly directly over people, roads, animals or buildings which are not under the direct control of the film crew/pilot
  • We cannot fly within 50m of people, roads, animals or buildings which are not under the direct control of the film crew/pilot
  • We cannot fly above 400′
  • We cannot fly further than 500m or outside of visually line of site of the Pilot
  • We cannot fly within 150m of congested areas or congregations of over 1000 people.
  • We can fly 30 minutes before sunrise and up to 30 minutes after sunset.
  • The Pilot always has final say if flying conditions and locations are ‘deemed safe”.
